Those guys over at the unfiction forums are all over this just like they were with Cloverfield (and thanks to Yiddleja again for the tip). It looks like there were some letters that flashed during the trailer that have possibly been decoded to say "Scariest Thing I Ever Saw". And of course the first thing we're gonna do is punch that into a web browser and get www.scariestthingieversaw.com which seems to have been registered a little over a week after the super8-movie.com website was, and by the same registration company.
Here's the letters from the trailer thanks to unfiction user blaqueice:
The website shows a virtual computer of sorts, a PDP-11 actually. There are 2 windows on the screen, the main window is the green screen command prompt interface and behind that is a window that asks if you want to print all pages to default printer. I do not have a printer that I can print to here, but those unfiction guys are way ahead, apparently if you say yes to print you get the following:

As for the green screen, if you follow the prompts and keep pressing "Y" you will eventually end up at a screen with what appears to be a counter. CrispyG4 over at unfiction figured out how long it will take for the counter to even out:
The number ticks every 5 seconds.
134640 parts. Start at 6000 so subtract those 6000 from the total: 128640
Times that by 5, you get 643,200 seconds until the countdown ends.
Divide that by 60, 10720 minutes. Divide THAT by 60, get 179 hours. Which is just around 7 1/2 days. So, probably around Noon on the 15th?
So it looks like, if this is connected, we may get a new reveal or something new around noon on May 15th, 2010. The only other thing that I noticed while playing with the green screens is the name D. Morris 05-FEB-77, so there could be a clue there.
And that's all I have for right now on this. I think it's probably legit and connected to the project based on the domain registration as well as the ip traces back to the same place that Cloverfield's sites were hosted on as well as the official site for Super 8. I've posted a bunch of screenshots after the jump for those that may not be able to access that page for whatever reason.
UPDATE: It seems as though there's a slight change in the last "countdown" screen that I posted early this morning compared to what it shows now. Instead of only 2 of the lines having text in them, it has now moved onto the 3rd. I've posted a new screenshot after the jump below the previous one so you can see what I'm talking about.
UPDATE 2: The countdown is now on #19 of 20 and I've redone the calculation that was mentioned above and I seem to have come up with a different ending time of 10PM CST tonight or 11PM EST. Someone double check and let me know what you come up with, I could have miscalculated.

So here’s what I’ve done.
On the site if you move the program window to the right you see a ‘print documents’ so I used this except saved the image to a pdf file and then put it in photoshop. What appears is a clip of the 8 mil film splices that lead us to the scariest thing you ever saw web site in the first place. However it appears to be projected on a wall and off to the left of the wall there is darkness. I adjusted the levels in PS and gleamed some interest things. I was expecting an alien face, but that didn’t happen. There seems so be some cardboard boxes on the ground behind the projection wall and there are some packing materials like scissors and paper. There is a red ladies’ hat sitting on top of the boxes with a golden monkey pin attached to it.

yeah but if u move the print documents u’ll see a braegen 14 and an audio file seem odd but another thing that seem to puzzle me was that if u press the arrow down at the left it asks for a password which maybe will bring u to the answer

I don’t know if it would have any meaning, but there is a third window. Please check it out, of you move the “Print Documents” window, and the PDP-11 SIM widow there is a folder that is titled “Braegen14″. If you click on it it opens a window that has a document in it titled “expcnv.dat”. When i double click on the document is says “Required components not found. No supporting application.” and it leaves you with a continue button.

after i printed the documents for “RSCOM8″ and heard the audio file for “expcnv.dat” i entered “.REENTER” alone and it sent me to another page that reads “P2P-11 simulator lisence 1130-a23r-12tr-2090″
it asks “mount continue y/n” i entered yes then it asks “device?” im not sure what to do after that can anybody help??
i also need help with this. after i open the audio then type reenter. i then type in y then it asks for device and im supposed to type something in. what do i type?

C# F# C# G# C D# D# G#
this could be a cypher? if you number the twelve notes of an octave 1-12 this would translate to 2-7-2-9-1-4-4-9. if we then translate to normally ordered letters, this reads “B-G-B-I-A-D-D-I,” which doesn’t make much sense to me, personally. anyone?
although that assumes starting at C, which doesn’t necessarily make sense. if we start at A, the number translation is 5-10-5-12-4-7-7-12, which then translates to letters: E-J-E-L-D-G-G-L, which still doesn’t make sense to me.

I’ve analyzed the video over and over again as well as gone to the website and looked at the newly posted cast list and the childs’ face in the reel where you get the scariest thing i ever saw reel appears to be zach mills, who i’m speculating was the first to sign onto this movie. Just throwing that out there if anyone can use that to make a connection to the plot.

Has anyone managed to open the “Braegen14″ file? I heard of this movie just yesterday, and I’m so psyched about it! and what about the device, has anyone figured it out?
Since you just heard about the movie yesterday I would suggest going through the timeline (link in the navigation bar at the top of the page) and get yourself caught up. Yes, the braegen14 file has been opened and discussed.
I think once the movie gets a little more exposure its going to get a little crowded in here.

I’m kind of new I guess. I was just wondering if anyone had posted about the password that you need to read the Chat on scariestthingieversaw.com? When you go to the website a window will appear and on the bottom left hand side of that window is a small arrow. When you click on that arrow It asks you for a password. The password you need is: toadfish112
After giving that password a chat window will appear and it’ll tell you that your IP Address is wrong, or whatever. Then the it lets you read the conversation.
Again, I’m new and very sorry if this information has been posted before.
Oh and also about the photo. You also need a password to see it, which is the same password you used to read the chat. The photo is titled ScanAM13.jpg.

So…i’ve been listening to the braegen14 audio file for a long time,trying to figure it out…best i came up with is as simple as is sounds,but more complicated to figure it out… “Morse Code” there are high notes and lower notes… i tried High notes are lines ans lowernotes are dots and reverse.
