Alien Sighting in the Trailer?

At the 22 second mark in the trailer this screenshot was pulled showing what could possibly be an alien figure off to the left side of the screen. It appears to be the face/head of what most people would describe as an alien being. It is gray and has a large skull and larger oval shaped eyes. Now, I'm not sure what we're seeing here, it could just be smoke playing tricks on our eyes, but it does sort of resemble an alien. However, that being said, I don't think this is the creature that is trying to break out of the box car on the train. The creature contained within that car seems to be a lot more powerful and probably a lot bigger than just an alien being. I think we're going to be looking at an actual creature and not just an alien "humanoid" when all is said and done.

So again, this could just be our eyes playing tricks on us and our brains making us see what we want to see, but it's the start of the campaign so I figured that everything is fair game for right now until we can prove otherwise (possible with an official version of the trailer).  So what do you guys think?

Thanks Brett for commenting on this and user wildoofsmeg at unfiction for the screenshot.

Update: commenter Kidanny has posted up another screenshot which some are saying looks more like an alien than the above, but honestly the more I look at both of them it just looks like smoke or the middle of a transition in the frame, but you be the judge. I've posted Kidanny's screenshot after the jump.

What Happens When The Counter Ends?

If you've been following the posts today regarding "Super 8" and it's viral campaign, you know that there is somewhat of a countdown going on over at and the big question is, what will the screen show when the countdown ends? Well you don't have to wait until then to find out... kind of.

Someone in an IRC channel associated with unfiction (if you know who please let me know so I can give them credit) managed to download the .swf file from that website and pull out what will happen at the end of the cycle. It doesn't give us any clues as to what really happens next, but you can at least see what the screen will look like at the end of it. So I don't think this is too much of a spoiler of anything. The only thing I can gather from this screenshot is that the "AF" in "AF FILE LIBRARY" may stand for Air Force, which would make my assumption that D. Morris stands for Dan Morris, since he was a Master Sergeant in the Air Force.

And the speculation begins... If you were around for the Cloverfield viral campaign you will remember people finding things in the trailer that weren't there, such as the monster in the smoke. Now I'm not saying that this is one of those cases, as it does resemble a face more than the smoke resembled the monster, but I'm sure many people will start finding things that don't exist in everything that's release or "found" for Super 8. With that being said, take a look at the image above courtesy of Carlton Halpert and make your own judgement.

This screenshot was taken towards the end of the trailer, just before the letters (which spelled out scariest thing i ever saw) are seen on the screen. Now, it does have the features of a human face, but it could also just be something completely different that our mind puts together as a human face when it's paused like this. Either way, I thought it was interesting enough to post up, so check it out and let us know what you think in the comments.

Thanks for the original screenshot/comment Carlton and Alessandra. And thanks to xUBIK for the updated one.

Vulture has apparently gotten their ears on some interesting information regarding this super secret J.J. Abrams project that everyone's talking about today. If you haven't read the post below, apparently there is a teaser trailer attached to Iron Man 2, which comes out this Friday, for a secret movie being produced by J.J. Abrams. Rumors around the net are that it's a prequel to 2008's Cloverfield, but obviously nothing is 100% confirmed, although new sources have emerged in the past hour.

Insiders familiar with the trailer tell us that it shows a bunch of kids who are shooting a movie with a Super 8 camera in the seventies or eighties. When they develop the film, they notice that there's an alien creature in the frame. Our sources also say that Super 8 is absolutely connected to 2008's Cloverfield (possibly a prequel, but not a sequel).

Bloody-disgusting also goes as far as to say that this sounds exactly like the Abrams/Spielberg collaboration that was announced last month and if that is the case it's possible that Abrams will be directing as well, although other places are saying that he may just be directing the trailer and not the actual film, so who knows.

Again all these details are just rumors, the teaser hasn't even been seen by the public yet so take this all with a grain of salt, but keep your eyes here for more information.

This could be what all of us "Cloverfield" fans have been waiting for. Rumor on the street is that J.J. Abrams is producing a super secret project that could be a follow up to the highly secretive, highly viral, "Cloverfield" from a few years ago. "Super 8" as the film is supposedly called, is supposed to have a teaser trailer attached to Iron Man 2 this weekend and just like the initial "Cloverfield" teaser that was shown before Transformers, this is sure to have everyone talking... so why not talk about it here, I know we will be. Head on over to HitFix to read a bit more., but make sure to bookmark this page as we'll have continuous updates as this all unravels.

Maybe the title holds some clues... If it is related to Cloverfield, maybe it's a sequel that shows more of the monsters origins or something like that, that happened in the past when Super 8 was more common/popular... and then again maybe this has absolutely nothing to do with Cloverfield...

If you're unfamiliar with us, we are the same people that brought you a few years back when there was a viral explosion surrounding that flick. And we're bringing all the knowledge we got from that project over to this one and hopefully we can deliver a much better place to get all your "Super 8" news.
